Nigerians have been called upon by Senator Abdulfatai Buhari who represents Oyo North in the National Assembly to live in the spirit of Easter by sacrificing their time, knowledge and skills for the progress of the country.
According to him, “the lesson of this Easter period is sacrifice. Jesus sacrificed his life. He left everything and surrendered himself, virtues that he has been demonstrating right from his birth. We may not be like Christ but we should have a semblance of his good virtues for us to have a better society.”
Buhari gave this admonition in an Easter Message to Christians who are commemorating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The senator urged persons in positions of authority in the country to sacrifice their greed and lust for unnecessary accumulation of wealth at the expense of the masses.
“It is painful that many religious leaders who are supposed to be role models are deviating from the righteous path thereby misleading people in power just because of their personal gain, this must not continue if truly we want God to bless our nation” Buhari stressed.
The lawmaker who is currently the Chairman, Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime stated further that continuous prayers, sacrifice and good virtues will not only help our lives as individual but also impact the society positively.
He congratulated Christians and urged them to emulate Christ by sacrificing their time to pray for leaders and progress of the country, and be shining examples of other Nigerians.
