A group of Human Rights Activists under the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) in Ekiti State has condemned the killing of the daughter of the foremost Yoruba leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, Mrs. Funke Olakunrin by unknown gunmen along Ore/Benin Expressway few days ago.

The activists called on President Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency declare a state of emergency in the security sector of the country.

The activists made the declaration in a statement jointly signed by the State Chairman, Comrade Tunde Asebieko; the State Secretary, Comrade Helen Akomolafe and the State Public Relations Officer, Comrade Olalekan Adeniran

The activists therefore called on Yoruba leaders to unite against external forces penetrating into Yorubaland and resulting into killings, raping and kidnapping of innocent citizens.

Foremost Yoruba Traditional rulers were also called upon to wake up from their slumber before unknown enemies overrun their immediate territories.

Specifically, the group advised the Aare Onakankanfo of the Yorubaland, Otunba Gani Adams to live up to his title and do the needful and ensure that no part of Yorubaland is conceded to outsiders or any external force. The group urged the Aare Ona Kankanfo of the Yorubaland being a stakeholder to ensure all the forests in the Southwest region is ransacked and all the culprits apprehended, arrested and prosecuted accordingly.

In addition, all the Governors in the Southwest region of Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo and Lagos States were advised and called upon to brace up to the challenges of insecurity in their states and put in place adequate measures to curtail the evil trend.
