In its bid to ensure equitable distribution of electricity to Ekiti people, the Dr Kayode Fayemi-led government in the state has engaged the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to construct three electricity sub-stations within the state.
Speaking during a meeting with the representatives of the company, the Commissioner for Infrastructures and Public Utilities, Hon. Bamidele Faparusi, said the Dr. Kayode Fayemi-led administration was not paying lip-service to his promise of providing an enabling environment for universal access to electricity but was committed to improving people’s standard of living through the provision of electricity which is critical to economic and social development.
Faparusi informed that the electricity stations would be constructed in Ado, Ilupeju and Ode Ekiti with the capacity of 330KVA and 132KVA respectively.

The Commissioner revealed that the decision to execute the project was sequel to his earlier visit to the headquarters of Benin Electricity Distribution Company PLC, adding that no stone would be left unturned in the efforts at achieving this goal.
In his submission, the team leader of the company, Engr. Leo Ogwu, who said the team would embark on site visitation immediately, assured that the pre-dominant issue of right of way would not be a challenge as the team of expert would exhibit an high sense of responsibility through proper coordination to avoid settlements and developmental projects as a way of minimizing impact.
