D’ Tigress head coach, Rena Wakama, has said her team will be ready to compete at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Berlin, Germany.
The African champions lost their last game to Germany at the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament on Tuesday.
D’Tigress finished the tournament with two wins and three narrow losses against South Korea, host France, and European giants Germany.
Wakama said she is proud of her team and what the Lyon tournament offered to her girls in preparation for the main event in September.
She added that though they had already qualified for the World Cup, they still had to put up a competitive performance throughout the tournament, and lessons have been learned for the purpose of improving the team.
”We were competitive throughout the tournament and learned together also, especially with the matches we lost.
” Going to the World Cup, we have to start games better and make better decisions on the court in critical moments. So we will go back and analyze the games more and focus more on our energy. ”.
