Mothers have been enjoined to work closely with their daughters in order to give them proper training as a house divided against itself cannot stand.
This advice was given by the founder of ABC Foundation and former First lady of Oyo State, Chief (Mrs) Florence Ajimobi at an event set aside to celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day.
The event, she said, is to foster love and unity between daughters and mothers.
According to her, “this year’s theme is a campaign to get women to aspire for equal pay for the work they do. It also requires them to push to an end, sexual harassment, violence against women and girls.”
She said mothers should bring up their daughters with moral uprightness, self esteem and self awareness. “We need to bring our daughters to understand that they are more than enough. They shouldn’t look down on themselves in any way”.
The former first lady also appealed to ladies who have been abused to speak up and take action for posterity’s sake.
Mrs Ajimobi equally called on the government not to sideline women and girls in the society thinking they know little or do not know at all.
