Popular actress, Bimbo Osin-Ibironke, over the weekend could not hold back tears at the Ibadan Golf Club, Sabo, Ibadan as members of the elitist club paid tributes to her late husband, Oladiran Ibironke (Dudu Heritage) who died last year while serving as the Captain of the club.
The actress was at the club as a special guest at a three-in-one event being organized by the club.
The events which started two days earlier included a special golf tourney, the commissioning of a special VIP lounge at the club named after Ola Ibironke and the opening of the club’s main administrative building donated by a quiet but philanthropic lawyer, Mr Abiodun Olatunji Bellumi, SAN.
While thanking the members of the club especially close friends of her late husband like the donor of the multimillion naira office complex, Mr Abiodun Olatunji and Otunba Abimbola Davis, the widow said “I am full of joy today that my husband is being recognized and appreciated by members of this great club. I thank you all and I will forever be grateful for this honour.
“I am happy too that the dream my late husband had for this club is being fulfilled especially with the commissioning of the administrative building which was his idea. I thank all of you who made this possible. You did not only do it, you did it well. My husband was a man who always insisted on perfection.”
While welcoming guests to the occasion, the Captain of the Club, Mr Tunji Oladosu thanked members for always supporting all his moves to take the social club to the greatest of heights.
In his own speech, the donor of the building, Abiodun Olatunji thanked all the members of the club for cooperating with him to ensure the timely completion of the building project. He singled out Otunba Abimbola Davis, Lawyer S.I Salami, Prince Bamidele Abolarin (Super Dee) and a few others adding that they made the job easier for him.
Mr Olatunji also harped on need for facilities at the club to be seriously maintained. He then gave out a bank draft of two million naira to be deposited in a special account strictly for the club’s maintenance. Other members, including Otunba Abimbola Davis also donated sizeable amounts towards this cause.
The event was spiced up with the appearance of Sharp Band, all the way from Lagos.
Dignitaries at the event included the Orangun of Oke Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin and his wife, Olori Solape, the Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Hon Segun Ogunwuyi, Semiu Adenekan (DJ Semight), Chief Yomi Salami, Oloye Adebayo Ojo, Otunba Tolu Falayi, Omolaraeni Olaosebikan, Chief Jelili Adesiyan his elegant wife as well as other prominent members of the club.
