Ekiti State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Tella Adeniran has revealed that 10,269 electoral personnel will be deployed for the June 18 gubernatorial election in the State.
He stated that 95 percent full complement of non-sensitive materials have been dispatched to various local government areas and registration areas across the state.
He made this known in Ado Ekiti over the weekend during a road show to sensitize residents on the need to vote and be peaceful during the election.
Dr. Adeniran further stated that the commission is ready to strictly abide by the rules guiding the conduct of the state election.
He said, “Preparation for the election is picking up momentarily and a lot of activities have been carried out and almost completed by the commission”.
He further assured the people of the readiness of the electoral body to train and deploy adequate security personnel towards the conduct of the election.
Speaking further, a senior official of INEC, Mr. Samuel Bassey warned the youths of the state to shun electoral violence and vote buying during the electoral exercise.
In a related development, Dr. Tella Adeniran while declaring open a two-day capacity building for stakeholders comprising of Community Based Organizations (CBO’s), Civil Society Organizations (CSO,s) and Persons With Disabilities (PWD’s) urged them to good ambassadors of the state before and during the election.
He, however, urged them to avail themselves of the opportunity provided by the commission to learn new skills and make themselves useful during the conduct of the June 18th election in the state.
He further submitted that the capacity building will help provide the participants with the needed communication skills to assists the commission to disseminate electoral information to the people of the state.
