President Muhammadu Buhari has joined other great Nigerians to condemn the heinous killing of worshippers Sunday at the St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo Kingdom, in Ondo State.
The President, in a statement from the office of Femi Adesina, his spokesman, said only fiends from the nether region could have conceived and carried out such dastardly act, adding that eternal sorrow awaits them both on earth here, and ultimately in the hereafter.
President Buhari mourned the dead, condoles with their families, the Catholic Church, and the Oluwarotimi Akeredolu-led government in Ondo State, charging emergency agencies to swing into action, and bring succor to the wounded.
“No matter what, this country shall never give in to evil and wicked people, and darkness will never overcome light. Nigeria will eventually win,” said the president.
Meanwhile, there is still really no clear picture of how many people lost their lives in the massacre.
Residents and Ondo Government sources have insisted that over 50 souls were lost as some of those who were rushed to the hospital have since died with others still in very critical conditions where they are being taken care of.
