Nigeria's Alex Iwobi...

Everton manager, Frank Lampard, has hailed Alex Iwobi’s versatility stating that he is willing to play anywhere to help the team achieve their goals.

Iwobi has starred for the Toffees as a central midfielder in six consecutive matches so far this season.

This was after the Nigerian showed his class playing as a right wing-back towards the end of last season as Everton avoided the drop.

He has also played as a fullback, attacking midfield and winger since Lampard was appointed as Everton coach last January.

Speaking to BT Sport, Lampard said, “For me the thing with Alex was to make him feel like he had my confidence.

“Now Evertonians will tell you he was brilliant in the second half of last season and a big part of what we’re doing.

“The beauty of him, which is not the norm with a modern player, if you tell him to play anywhere he’ll say ‘no problem’. He’ll understand it and he won’t be upset by it”.

Former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, who handed the former Arsenal forward his international debut praised the 25-year-old Nigerian for his outstanding displays after Everton were held to a goalless draw in a breathless Merseyside derby on Saturday.

The 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner also reserve accolades for Lampard who has brought the best out of Iwobi.

The Hale graduate had 47 touches, 65 passes with an 86 per cent ratio, seven ball recoveries, three clearances, one shot on goal and a successful tackle in the encounter.

In a tweet on Saturday, the former Fortuna Sittard coach wrote, “Alex Iwobi’s performance today especially and in recent months, has me excited and makes me so proud as a compatriot.

“Vision, physical, clairvoyance, pace, aggressive and above all, he has found total belief in his capabilities. This is great for Nigeria and Everton. Bravo Lampard and Alex.
