Quality Of Caleb ‘Varsity’s Postgraduate Programmes Applauded By International Assessors

A team of international scholars assembled in the meeting Room A-4 in the just completed ultra-modern aerospace engineering building at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, on February 13 2023 and joined virtually in the assessment of Post field presentations.

Caleb University as an institution with international academic standard, ensured that the PhD post field presentation by three students of the department of architecture was evaluated using global academic benchmark and criteria. Prof Adedeji Daramola, Professor of Architecture and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) arrived United Kingdom to join the foreign team of assessors. Prof Samuel Daramola noted that the purpose of the bilateral academic interaction and evaluation is to make the PhD work in Caleb University more robust and of global quality and standard.

Dr Obuks Ejohwomu, an Associate Professor and outstanding scholar from the University of Manchester organized the virtual interactions. Other Global scholars in attendance includes Dr Mohammmed Abadi from Syria and currently at the University of Manchester and Dr Enoch Odesola from  De Montfort University, UK.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof Nosa Owens-Ibie who participated in the evaluation exercise, commended the College of Environmental and Management Sciences as well as the College of Postgraduate Studies for doing a good job and called for the department to work towards graduating PhD students within 3 years’ time frame. The Vice Chancellor reiterated that Management is working to ensure that all framework and support required for the successful implementation of postgraduate programmes will be made available.  He emphasized the need for all postgraduate students to work towards the successful completion of their PhD programmes within 3 years, as this is the expectation of Management.

Other top management staff at the evaluation venue are, Prof Olalekan Asikhia, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research, Innovation, Strategy and Administration; Prof Teju Somorin, Dean, College of Postgraduate Studies; Prof Oluwole Alagbe, Dean, College of Environmental and Management Sciences; Prof Dare-Abel Ayodeji, Head of Department of Architecture, Dr Michael Adegbile, staff and students.

Stephen Babalola presentation is on Assessment of Passive Design Application by Architectural Firms in Southwest Nigeria; while OYESODE Sogo Abiola topic is on Assessment of Building Information Modelling (Bim) Optimization in Architectural Firms in Lagos State, Nigeria and ACHIME Victor Uchenna thesis is on Power, Policy And Property Rights: Impact on Housing in Ikorudu Local Government Area, Lagos State (2002-2022).

The International assessors commended Caleb University for the quality of its postgraduate programmes and made useful contributions. The contributions made by the international assessors have been harvested to enrich and make the various theses of global standard, making meaningful contributions to the body of knowledge.
