Promising young defender, Harrison Sodje has signed a new one-year contract with Leyton Orient.

The 19-year-old, who can operate as both a centre-back and a left-back, has continued to develop since his first professional deal last season.

Heading out on loan to Heybridge Swifts and Cray Wanderers saw Sodje pick up vital first-team experience, proving to be a key cog in both teams’ successful seasons.

Now, with a new contract at the club, Sodje is excited to continue his development and put himself in the thinking of Head Coach Richie Wellens.

“I’m buzzing, I joined at U16 level so this is my fourth year, so I was delighted to sign the extension,” said Sodje.

“I’ve learned about the professionalism needed from being around the team, how to prepare in the best way possible.

“Last season I didn’t lose a league game, but also managed to play in different positions and continue my development, so I’m thankful for the experiences.”

Richie Wellens was keen to see Sodje sign up once again, and has challenged him to continue his growth on and off the field.

“Harrison has enjoyed a good first year in and around the first-team, and has worked hard in his two loan spells, making a big impression.

“A new deal now offers him the chance to continue that development, improve as a player, and continue working towards his goals here at the Club.”
