The leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Ibadan South East local government area on Thursday threw their weights behind the re-election bid of the duo of the Executive Chairman of Ibadan South East local government, Hon. Emmanuel Oluwole Alawode and his vice, Hon. Teslim Ogundeji and all the 12 councillorship candidates respectively.
While welcoming the Alawode/Ogundeji campaign team to the meeting held with the CAN Executive council in Ibadan South East local government, the CAN Chairman, Pastor Olalere Olusola expressed their support for Hon. Alawode continuity in office, stressing that this became imperative in view of the fact that he has done exceedingly well in his first term tenure and therefore deserve re-election.
Also speaking, the 1st Vice-Chairman of CAN in Ibadan South East local government, Pastor Israel Tolu Olayiwola, CAN Women Leader who also doubled as Women leader for all the 11 local governments in Ibadan land, Mrs Christianah Falodun and Youth Leader, Olayiwola Michael who extolled the exceptional performance of Hon. Alawode stressed that he has been able to replicate what Governor Makinde is doing in the state in Ibadan South East local government in infrastructure, health, education, security and most especially empowering the women and the youth to banish poverty in his council area.
They, however, implored Hon. Alawode to accommodate more women and the youth from the christian body in his second term administration.
Speaking earlier on the purpose of the visit, the Director-General of the campaign council, Hon. Ademola Ige said the campaign team consider it necessary to seek the face of Almighty God through the men of God for a hitch free campaign exercise of Alawode Arole Omi Tuntun second term election that is about to commence.
Hon. Ige pointed out that while the party has fulfilled its obligation of fielding the most tested, trusted, competent and committed candidates, the next thing is to go out and sell the candidates to the electorates and solicit their votes ahead of the election.
He commended the CAN leaders in Ibadan South East local government for their untiring prayers and support for Hon. Alawode and the Oyo State government under Governor Seyi Makinde led administration.
In his short remark, the party’s chairmanship candidate who is also the incumbent chairman, Hon. Emanuel Alawode described the visit as a homecoming to offer special gratitude to God for keeping him alive and to weather the storm since he came on board in 2019.
He specifically appreciated all the christian leaders for their unwavering support and prayers for his administration and promise to carry them along in his second term tenure.
In attendance during the visit were Hon. Alawode’s running mate, Teslim Ogundeji, PDP chairman in Ibadan South East local government, Engr. Sulaiman Adesina, party leader, Alhaji Tiamiyu Abidikugu, Hon. Sunday Babatunde council secretary, all the 12 ward councillorship candidates and other members of the Arole Omi Tuntun campaign committee respectively.
Special prayer was offered by the Christian leaders for all the candidates and campaign committee members for a successful outing and victory in the upcoming council election.
