Nigeria will stage its National Trials for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, which will be held from 20th to 22nd June 2026 at the Yabatech Sports Complex, Yaba, Lagos, as athletes compete for places on Team Nigeria ahead of Glasgow 2026.
The three-day championship will serve as the country’s official selection event for the Commonwealth Games, providing athletes with an opportunity to meet qualifying standards and secure spots in the national team bound for Scotland.
The trials are expected to attract some of the nation’s finest track and field athletes, providing a competitive platform to showcase talent, achieve qualifying standards, and earn places on Team Nigeria.
Among the notable athletes expected to participate are Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, Fakorede Adekalu, Tyler Johnson, and Ogundiran Blessing, alongside several other elite and emerging stars who continue to raise the profile of Nigerian athletics on the international stage.

The Commonwealth Games is scheduled to be held from 23 July to 2 August 2026 in Glasgow, the largest city in Scotland.
