The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, has said that the state Assembly would not condone any form of indecent behavior that is capable of demeaning the integrity and dignity of public office.
The Speaker disclosed this after the House suspended the Chairman of Oyo East Local Government, Mr. Olusola Oluokun.
Hon. Ogundoyin said the swift action taken by the state House of Assembly demonstrated its commitment to maintaining the integrity and dignity of public office.
Olusola Oluokun, Chairman of Oyo East Local Government was suspended following a viral video that sparked controversy.
His suspension was raised in a Matter of Urgent Public Importance titled “Urgent Call for Full Investigation into the indecent attitude of the Chairman, Oyo East Local Government, Mr. Olusola Oluokun in a viral video online”.
The video showed Oluokun eating half-naked and praising a political stalwart who helped him become chairman.
He also allegedly rained curses on those perceived as enemies of his benefactor.
Oluokun’s actions in the video were deemed unbecoming of an elected local government chairman.
Meanwhile, the House has, therefore, set up a committee to investigate the matter and also directed the Vice Chairman to take up the affairs of the council in acting capacity pending the outcome of the investigation.
The House condemned the act, describing it as unbecoming of an elected local government chairman.
