The Tuesday night inferno that engulfed popular Aleshinloye Market in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State is still raging despite efforts by stakeholders to quench it.
PMParrot’s visit to the scene on Wednesday morning revealed that the section where plastic and other household materials are being sold have almost been razed to the ground completely.
Akinyemi Akinyinka, the General Manager of Oyo State Fire Services had earlier confirmed the presence of his men at the scene.
Store owners at the market, however, revealed that lack of water hampered the productivity of the men of the fire service.
Some of the store owners have been inundating popular radio stations in Ibadan including Splash 105.5fm, Lagelu 96.7fm, Fresh 105.9fm and others with calls to complain.
Some of them used the opportunity to beg the Oyo State Government to take more proactive steps to quench the raging fire.
For now, goods worth several millions of naira have been lost. A few of the store owners also sustained varying degrees of injury while trying to retrieve their goods.
Stay with PMParrot for updates.
