The Chairman of Ikenne Local Government, Ogun State, Hon. Jamiu Mohammed Asimi has tasked Muslims in Nigeria to prioritize unity to promote their religion.
He specifically urged all Islamic clerics and scholars within his local government to ensure that they allow peace and unity to reign supreme at all times.
Hon Asimi gave these submissions at the turbanning of former boss of defunct Bakers’ World on Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos, Alhaji Hassan Taiwo Fatungase as the Seriki Adini of As‑Sobbur Ago-Ilara Central Mosque, Ilisan-Remo recently.

The hard-working LG boss used the opportunity to pledge his administration’s resolve to continue to partner all religious groups in the council to promote peace and progress as this, according to him, “will show others in the state that we are progressive people at Ikenne Local Government. Our economy will also expand more if we embrace love and unity.”
In his own response, the new Seriki Adini, Alhaji Fatungase thanked all those who contributed to the success of the day’s event.

“Allah has been merciful onto us. May His name be praised. I also appreciate all of us here present. I appreciate more those who contributed to our fund-raising efforts.
“We are doing this to complete the renovation of the As‑Sobbur Ago-Ilara Central Mosque – Arabic Building here in Ilisan Remo, Ogun State of Nigeria.
“This mosque is the heart of our community; it is where we learned the Qur’an, prayed, built our values, and found a sense of belonging. Today it remains a cornerstone for children and adults alike, a place where Islamic knowledge is nurtured.
The Arabic Islamic Building, however, is still unfinished, and urgent work is needed to make it safe, functional, and dignifying for worshippers and students every day. This project is not about one person—it is about us coming together to preserve a house of Allah and a centre of learning for future generations.”

Apart from Hon Mohammed Jamiu Ashimi, Ikenne LG boss, other special guests at the event included Alhaji Musibau Salako Wakeel of Remo League of Imam & Alfas, Dr. Sakiru Olufemi Adelaja: Medical Director; Amazing Grace Hospital, Ijebu Ode, Alhaji Abiodun Amereya: Managing Director Able Links Ltd and Alhaji Ganiyu Waidi: Deputy Registrar, CITN.
