Four Nigerian musical stars have been named among the artists featured on the official soundtrack album for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Davido, Burna Boy, Rema, and Ayra Starr were named by FIFA Sound as part of the tournament’s album, which drops June 5.

Gianni Infantino, FIFA president, announced the lineup in an Instagram post, praising the collection of performers as an “extraordinarily strong music squad.”

He said the album blends well-known international icons with rising talents from various regions, aiming to connect football enthusiasts worldwide through music.

“FIFA has brought together an extraordinarily strong music squad and one befitting the biggest single-sport event in history—the @fifaworldcup 2026!” he wrote.

“From global superstars to breakthrough voices who are shaping the future of music, the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Album features artists from across continents, languages, and genres in a project designed to unite fans worldwide through the power of music and football.”

For the album, Rema joined forces with K-pop sensation Lisa and Brazilian artist Anitta on a track titled ‘Goals.’ Davido, meanwhile, teamed up with Canadian singer Nelly Furtado and American electronic trio Major Lazer for ‘No Place Like Home.

Ayra Starr appeared on ‘Show Me’ alongside American rapper Latto, while Burna Boy partnered with Shakira for ‘Dai Dai.

Other contributors to the project include Tyla, Shenseea, Future, and Stormzy.

In another post, Infantino thanked all the featured musicians for bringing their “skill, energy, and passion” to the soundtrack for the North American tournament.

He expressed pride in the collaborative effort, emphasising that both football and music have the ability to cross borders and unite diverse cultures.

“FIFA is extremely proud to bring together the most talented artists from across the world, showcasing the spirit of unity, collaboration, and celebration for the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Album!” he added.

“Football and music transcend boundaries and have the power to unite cultures and communities.

“I am extremely thankful to all our fantastic artists whose skill, energy, and passion have come together to provide the soundtrack to the world’s greatest sporting, social, and cultural event this summer in North America.”

The tournament is scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19 and will be co-hosted by three countries, Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

In 2022, Davido featured on ‘Hayya Hayya (Better Together),’ one of the official soundtrack songs for the FIFA World Cup that year.
