The countdown has begun for the 2026 Society of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB) South-West Broadcast Summit and Zonal Induction, with organisers promising a landmark gathering of media professionals, industry leaders, and key stakeholders in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Scheduled for Thursday, July 16, 2026, the summit will be held at the Local Government Training Centre, Local Government House, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Organised by the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB) in collaboration with the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), the event will feature high-level discussions, professional networking, and the official induction of new members into the society.

The summit is themed “Public Policy, Mass Media, and Conflict-Sensitive Broadcasting: Strengthening Media-Government Synergy for National Security.” The organisers say the theme reflects the growing need for responsible journalism and stronger collaboration between the media and government in promoting peace, national security, and sustainable development.

The Planning Committee said the summit would bring together broadcasters, media executives, communication experts, policymakers, and other stakeholders from across Nigeria to exchange ideas, strengthen professional relationships, and explore emerging trends shaping the broadcasting industry.

Beyond the keynote sessions, participants will witness the zonal induction ceremony, where new members will be formally admitted into the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters alongside other broadcasting professionals from different parts of the country.

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde will serve as the chief host, while the National President of the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters, Prof. Umaru Pate, is expected to lead the association’s delegation to the event.

The Planning Committee described the summit as a unique opportunity for professionals to broaden their knowledge, engage in meaningful conversations on the future of broadcasting, and contribute to efforts aimed at strengthening media excellence in Nigeria.

It urged all broadcasters and media practitioners to be part of what it described as a defining moment for the profession, expressing optimism that the summit would further advance collaboration, professional development, and broadcasting excellence across the Southwest and the country at large.
