Demographics
Here are some things to know about Adewale Oluwatosin Adewole (Amure Abe IV):
Born on March 8, 1994, the 32-year-old monarch is regarded as the youngest traditional ruler to ascend the throne in Ekiti State in recent years, a development many have described as a reflection of generational renewal within the state’s traditional institution.
Oba Adewale holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Ilorin and an Ordinary National Diploma in Business Administration from Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
The new monarch is married to Olori Omobolaji Oluwatoyin Adewole.
He emerged as the Owa of Ayegbaju-Ekiti following a selection process conducted in line with the Registered Chieftaincy Declaration and the Chiefs Law of Ekiti State.
His appointment was approved by the Ekiti State Executive Council at its first meeting of 2026 after confirming compliance with all statutory and traditional requirements.
The throne became vacant following the death of the immediate past Owa of Ayegbaju-Ekiti, Oba Solomon Adeloye, on February 15, 2024.
Ahead of the coronation, Oba Adewale described his ascension to the throne as a solemn call to serve his people with humility, integrity and vision.
Solemn Call
“This is a solemn call to serve my people with humility, integrity and vision. I am committed to preserving our cherished traditions while embracing innovation, unity and partnerships that will improve the lives of our people. Together, we shall build an Ayegbaju-Ekiti that honours its past and confidently embraces the future,” he said.
The monarch also commended the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji for ensuring a peaceful and transparent selection process, saying it had set a commendable standard in strengthening the traditional institution and promoting peaceful coexistence across the state.
