Olubadan’s Lying-In-State: Makinde, CCII, Others Bid Oba Olakulehin Farewell

    The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Mogajis and prominent sons and daughters of Ibadan on Thursday witnessed the beginning of the final journey home of late Olubadan Owolabi Olakulehin.

    The lying-in-state of the late monarch was held at historic Mapo Hall on Thursday.

    It will be recalled that Oba Olakulehin, who joined his ancestors on July 7, 2025, after spending a year on the throne, was the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

    Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Interfaith, Rev. Femi Ibikunle, described the late monarch as an astute and articulate personality, who always put interest of his people at heart.

    He said Oba Olakulehin was an hardworking and accommodating man, who tolerated religious harmony which made his reign peaceful as the Olubadan of Ibadanland.

    In his remark, the President of Ibadan Mogajis, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori, said the late monarch lived a meritorious life while alive.

    He noted that Olakulehin’s impact on Ibadanland cannot be overemphasized.

    Meanwhile, son of the late monarch, Prince Sunmbo Owolabi, while speaking on behalf of the family, thanked CCII, High Chiefs, Mogajis, and sons and daughters of Ibadan for their support, praying that Ibadanland will continue to wax stronger.
