Southwestern University, Okun-Owa, Ogun State, has officially matriculated newly admitted students into various academic programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The event held at the University’s auditorium on Thursday in Okun- Owa, Ogun State marked an important milestone for the matriculating students as they officially began their academic journey into one of Nigeria’s leading private universities.
Speaking, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Akinboboye congratulated the new students for successfully gaining admission into the institution while charging them to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to academic excellence.
She emphasized the university’s core values of integrity, innovation, and leadership, encouraging the students to uphold the institution’s standards at all times.
Dr. Akinboboye further urged the matriculating students to embrace new challenges and develop their critical thinking skills.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, however, counselled the matriculating students not to join bad association while urging them to adhere to the university’s rules and regulations, stressing that character development is as important as academic achievement.
Adding, the Registrar, Ms. Fatima Adelana stated that all the courses and programmes in the University have been accredited by the National University Commission.
She further stated that the University will commence her first semester examination on Monday 15, March 2026 while urging the students to prepare adequately.
The Parents and guardians of the matriculating students further expressed appreciation to the university management for providing a conducive learning environment and pledged their continued support towards their wards’ academic success.
The ceremony featured the administration of the matriculation oath, officially admitting the students into the academic community of Southwestern University.
The ceremony was well attended by members of the University Management, faculty members, parents, guardians, and well-wishers.
