Nigeria’s Super Eagles have maintained their 26th position in the latest FIFA Men’s World Rankings released on Thursday following an encouraging June international window.

The three-time African champions remain the third-highest-ranked team in Africa despite a mixed run of results that included victories over Zimbabwe and Jamaica, a draw against Poland, and a narrow defeat to Portugal since the previous rankings.

Éric Chelle’s side defeated Zimbabwe’s Warriors 2-0 and thrashed Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz 3-0 at the Unity Cup invitational tournament in London.

The West Africans also played two international friendlies, drawing 2-2 with Poland in Warsaw before suffering a 2-1 defeat to Portugal in Leiria on Wednesday night.

Despite the mixed results, the Super Eagles remain the third-highest ranked team in Africa, behind Morocco’s Atlas Lions and Senegal’s Teranga Lions.

Algeria and Egypt complete the continent’s top five-ranked teams.

On the global stage, the top five remain unchanged, with reigning world champions Argentina retaining first place ahead of Spain, France, England, and Portugal.

The next FIFA Men’s World Rankings will be published on July 20.
