Wasilat, the female TikToker at the centre of the controversy surrounding the annual Oloolu Masquerade Festival in Ibadan, Oyo State, has revealed that officers at Agugu Police Station in Ibadan got a sum of ₦40,000 before her family could secure her bail after she was detained for a night.
She also revealed that her family coughed out a whopping sum of ₦400,000 to ‘appease’ traditionalists attached to the Oloolu Masquerade’s family.
She made these allegations while speaking on a live radio show, Adiitu anchored by Seun ‘Special’ Aribikola on Splash 105.5fm in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State on Thursday morning.
She emphatically stated that she was actually forced from her home after she posted a clip of followers of the Oloolu on TikTok.
Denial
According to her, “I did not post the Oloolu. I only posted the scene involving the security and other people around my environment. After I did this, I was advised to delete and I did.
“Later, some people came and told me that they were from the Olubadan’s Palace and that I must follow them to the Olubadan’s Palace. They later invited Policemen from Agugu Police Division. They brought Keke Marwa and they took me to the Police Station. I wrote my statement and I was detained. I was only released the second day by 12 noon after my people paid ₦40,000 for my bail. They got the cash from a POS.”
Wasilat, in her submission during the Radio Show said after being released by the police, the traditionalists from the Oloolu compound then took her to Ode Aje, their compound while raining curses on her and her family.
She continued “they abused and rained curses upon me. They then took me, my mother and other family members to Ode Aje where my family was asked to buy a goat, piece of red cloth and blade. They slaughtered the goat and poured the blood onto my head after my mother had shaved my head as shown in the now viral video clip. They later requested for ₦500,000. My husband was able to negotiate and he paid ₦400,000.”
Wasilat while talking on the Radio Show monitored by PMParrot, insisted that she never recorded the Oloolu. She also persistently said nothing was wrong with her before what she called her ‘abduction’ from her home.
She said, “no blood came out from my body. Not even my monthly period. They forced me to say a lot of things into their video that they posted when my head was being shaved.”
She added “people should just leave me alone and let me be. I am tired of this wahala. I leave everything in the hands of God.”
Mogaji Omotosho Speaks
The anchor of the Radio Show, Seun Aribikola also placed a call to the Mogaji in charge of Oloolu’s Compound at Ode Aje, Ibadan, Mogaji Kazeem Omotosho.
In his own account, the head of the compound insisted that Wasilat recorded the Oloolu’s entourage and that the move to ‘cleanse’ her was purely humanitarian.
His words “we should have left her alone to face the consequences of her action. We embarked on the moves to cleanse her because of intervention of close family friends.”
When Mogaji Omotosho was asked about the ₦400,000 allegedly collected from Wasilat and her people, the Mogaji said, “I did not collect any money because I was there and if my people collected money, they, perhaps wanted to buy spiritual materials.”
