Another tragedy has hit Yorubaland! Dipo Famakinwa, the Director General at DAWN Commission (Development Agenda For Western Nigeria) has just been reported dead.

Dipo, who would have clocked 50 on July 7, 2017 died at Genesis Hospital, GRA in Ikeja on Friday morning, had been nursing what seemed like a terminal illness but had also been hopeful that he would ‘survive it miraculously’.

Our source close to his Ogba, Lagos residence informed that he died being hopeful that the assignment of how to unite and make Yorubaland formidable that he championed will be pursued more vigorously – even, after his demise.

For those who do not know, DAWN Commission, headed by the deceased was established for the Southwest Region of Nigeria to become the preferred place of choice for people to visit, to live, to work, and to invest in Africa.

Another aim why the commission was founded was “the attainment of an egalitarian, democratic and economically self-sustaining Region that unlocks the energies and resourcefulness of her people for greater good and prosperity, while assuring their liberty and freedom.

As far as the owner governors of Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Lagos, Ekiti and Ondo are concerned, they had a specific role for DAWN Commission.

The government of the region charged the Commission to work assiduously in enacting a focused development paradigm for mobilising the collective strengths, assets and capabilities lying within the States of Southwest Nigeria, towards achieving sustainable socio-economic growth and development that would result in high standard of living improved well-being for the people of the Region.
