The Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti, has donated two hundred face mask to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ekiti State Council.
The materials which were produced by the Center for Entrepreneurship Development and Vocational Studies of the institution were made of quality materials in line with health standards.
Presenting the material to the council, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Dayo Oladebeye said the gesture was part of the corporate social responsibility of the institution to complement government’s efforts at ending the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said the materials should be distributed among media houses in the state so as to assist journalists to protect themselves in the course of discharging their duties.
According to him, journalists are among workers who are in the front line in the fight against covid-19.
Meanwhile, the gesture was also extended to staff of the institution, members of the Aba Ebira community and the Police station along the polytechnic route with the aim of also ensuring proper protection against COVID-19.
The Rector, Dr. Dayo Oladebeye had recently directed the Institution’s Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Vocational Studies * CEDVS to produce over a thousand face masks for distribution to some residents of its immediate Community.
