Construction Of Ultra Modern Bus Terminal Begins In Ibadan

As part of activities marking the first anniversary of Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde in office, he has flagged-off the construction of two terminal projects at Iwo-Road in Ibadan.

The governor, while flagging off the projects, expressed the commitment of his administration towards provision of infrastructure for the development of the state.

Engr. Makinde disclosed that his administration would continue to executing projects that would enhance economic growth and infrastructural development of the state.

Governor Makinde had on May 5, 2020 approved the contract for the construction of four Ultra-modern bus terminals located at three different in Ibadan. Locations include Iwo road, Challenge area, Ojoo and New Ife road.

While revealing importance attached to the project, the governor noted that the project would redefine the view of the state capital after completion.

Makinde maintained that Iwo road was a meeting point in Nigeria, due to its connecting junctions, stressing that the interchange connects many roads and that the problem of traffic deadlock being experienced at the interchange would be a thing of the past.

He further stated that the bus terminals would address security issues associated with the area and enhance the quality of life in the transport sector.

Makinde promised the owners of demolished properties to be rest assured as his government will adequately compensate them and would be considered for shop allocation.

In his welcome address, Prof. Raphael Afonja, who is the Commissioner for Works and Transport, said that the ultra bus terminal projects will be completed within a year.

He disclosed that the project would incorporate restaurants, shops, automated teller machine (ATM) galleries and Cafe among others.

Among the personalities in attendance at the Flag-off of the projects include Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan and some members of the executive council.
