The Commissioner of Police in charge of Oyo State command, Mr Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu has, during the week called for collaboration between the state’s branch of Freelance and Independent Broadcaster Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), other media associations and the police.
This call was made by his representative, Afeez Oyekan at an interactive session organised by FIBAN at the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Oyo State Secretariat.
The Chairman of the event, Mr Agboola Olayinka harped on the urgent need for an interactive session that will help fill the gap between the members of the public and the Police. He emphasized on the imperative need of FIBAN to continue to organise the programme.
Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, the commissioner in charge of the ministry said that the problem of insecurity in Oyo State is one that must be collectively approached and solved sincerely.
He lamented that members of the public are always quick to cast aspersions on the Police without making adequate findings. He chastised some Journalists for not always scrutinizing before spreading information.
Dr Olatunbosun who was also the Chief host, lauded the efforts of the Police in ensuring that peace reigns especially after the crises reiterated the need to sanitize the policing system in Nigeria.
Oyo FIBAN Governor, Seun Awodele also urged the members of the public to join hands with the Police in ensuring that security is beefed up at all times.
The main highlight at the event included the presentation of award to the Commissioner of Police, which was received by his representative.
Other personalities present at the programme included, veteran broadcasters, Basorun Adegboyega lawal, Wale Lawal and many others.
