Human Rights Lawyer, Barrister Femi Falana (SAN) has charged the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government to put an end to killings in the country.
He further condemned the activities of the armed bandits who recently attacked innocent people along the Kaduna-Abuja railway describing it as a show of shame.
Falana who was represented by Barrister Taiwo Omidoyin, further lauded the authorities of the institution for honoring him with the award revealing that it is the right of every Nigerian citizen to be governed well.
He stated this after bagging an honorary award at the convocation ceremony of the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, on Wednesday.
He said, “The whole essence of our establishment is to project human rights, social rights and on behalf of the law firm, we condemn the recent attack on the Kaduna-Abuja train where there was a bomb blast. It is a matter of serious concern to us.
“We implore all hands to be on deck to ensure the safety of lives and properties in Nigeria. We cannot continue to live in fear and chaos in a sovereign nation like Nigeria where human lives are given little or no regard”.
The human rights lawyer, however, enjoined the federal government to ensure that the security of lives is paramount while tasking various stakeholders to join hands with the government to nip the incessant attacks in the bud.
