Nigeria’s telecom service provider, 9mobile, recently supported the MEDICAID foundation annual awareness walk in the fight against cancer.
The 5km walk staged in the Central Business district of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, was tagged “Walk Away Cancer.”
The Chief Executive Officer of MEDICAID, Dr. Zainab Bagudu, the convener of the ‘Walk Away Cancer’ initiative and wife of Kebbi state governor, said it was out of love and support for persons dealing with cancer.
She said, “It has been discovered that many people have cancer, so we as an organisation have taken it upon ourselves to show solidarity and encourage those affected to keep hope alive. Cancer is not the end of the world.”
Commenting on the ‘Walk Away Cancer’ initiative, the Executive Director, Regulatory and Corporate Affairs, 9mobile, Abdulrahman Ado, who was represented at the occasion by the PR Lead, 9mobile, Chineze Amanfo, reiterated the company’s commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle among the people.
She said, “9mobile is proud to be associated with the ‘Walk Away Cancer’ initiative championed by MEDICAID Foundation to sensitise and support cancer patients. Health is one of the CSR pillars of 9mobile; as such, we are always willing to collaborate with individuals and organisations who are doing things in that direction.”
The Executive Governor of Kebbi, Senator Abubakar Bagudu, who participated in the event, urged MEDICAID’s management to continue sustaining the tempo.
