West Ham are not given up the hope of signing FC Lorient’s Nigeria ace striker Terem Moffi after the English Premier League side reportedly submitted an improved 30 million Euros (about 14,726,064,354.00 Nigerian Naira) including bonus on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old Super Eagles striker has been linked to several clubs including French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice, Southampton, Bournemouth as well as West Ham.
At the weekend, Lorient reportedly rejected offers from both Nice and West Ham with claims that the French club twice offered €15m (about N7.3 Billion) and €18m (about N8.8 Billion) while West Ham improved its initial offer of 15m (about N7.3 Billion) to €25m (about N12.2 Billion) on Monday.
Amid declaration that Moffi had chosen Nice ahead of West Ham as per French journalist Santi Aouna, it was not a surprise that The Irons have revived their bid with an improved offer yesterday as per Foot Mercato.
Yesterday, the French tabloid stated inter alia :“According to our information, West Ham, which was already interested, drew another offer of 30 million euros including bonus, through Willie McKay. A substantial sum that necessarily appeals to Lorient who would like to sell the player on the England side. For his part, the player prefers to stay in Ligue 1 on the side of Nice. But OGC Nice has still not made a satisfactory offer to Lorient. Discussions are continuing.”
Incidentally, Moffi’s long standing advisor who told NationSport exclusively on Tuesday that ‘there are too many offers’ for his protégé , has yet admitted hinted that both Lorient and the Team Moffi Group are studying the unfolding transfer proposals with bated breath.
“We just have to keep our fingers crossed,” he said yesterday.
Moffi is currently the joint second-highest scorer in Ligue 1 this season along with Lille’s Jonathan David with 12 goals behind Paris Saint Germain’s Kylian Mbappé who has 13 goals.
Described by Total Football Analysis as a nuisance, “Moffi” according to Hammer News, “is exactly what we need at the London Stadium, and he would take West Ham’s attacking play to a whole new level entirely.
“He is absolutely rapid and is strong as an ox. He is generally a nuisance for opposing defenders and would offer a completely different option to Gianluca Scamacca through the middle, what with his power and pace.”
