Ile Ife Crisis: NEMA Steps In, Distributes Relief Materials

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in collaboration with its counterpart, Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA) has distributed some relief materials worth billions of naira to the victims of the last communal clash in Ile-Ife, Osun state.

The head of operations, Ekiti operation office of NEMA, Mr. Akinyode Saheed while handing over the materials to the leaders of the Hausa community at Sabo area of Ile-Ife, said the materials were brought as part of the quick intervention response that will serve as succour to the affected victims.

He said that the interim assessment of the clash made by the agency showed that huge funding will be needed to rebuild and re-establish victims of the clash.

Akinyode then advised the residents of Ile-Ife to be more cordial in their human relations and avoid any behaviour that can cause mayhem and confusion in the area.

Some of relief materials presented included: mats, mattresses, buckets, beverages, rice, vegetable oil, footwear, towels, clothing materials, toilet soap, mosquito nets, and lots more.
