Until she breathed her last, Moji Olaiya was one of Nollywood’s most exclusive artistes. Her ability to interpret roles with precision was a unique selling point.
From Wale Adenuga’s Super Story series, ‘No Pains No Gains’, where she played Ireti, to ‘Agunbaniro’ to Gbenga Adeboye’s ‘Oni Ni’ to ‘Sade Blade’, her versatility as an actress became incontestable.
Though she tried as much as she could, to keep her affairs as private as possible and ensure that things were kept away from prying eyes. People could, however, not but notice that something had gone disturbingly wrong with her marriage to Bayo Okesola; which was contracted in 2007.
She would later cite domestic violence as reasons for quitting the marriage that lasted for seven years.
Findings revealed that one of the things that aided the break-up was that Bayo reportedly had a child out of wedlock and moved into a rented apartment around Omole Phase 2 area of Ikeja, Lagos shortly before the eventual collapse of the marriage.
Moji became even more discreet about her personal life. And then came the conversion from Christianity to Islam. The strikingly beautiful actress only chose to speak and address the many tongues that wagged that she had met an ‘Alhaji’ who swept her off her feet. She not only denied the insinuation, but also confirmed that she was separated but not divorced as at that time. She claimed her conversion had nothing to do with any relationship.
Fans in some quarters have opined that trouble might be brewing with plenty of willing cooks to stir the broth; no thanks to those asking for the identities of the fathers of the deceased’s two children.
Mischief makers have calculated that if Moji’s first daughter is 18, it means she had her before marrying Mr. Okesola. And now that she has passed on, two months after delivering her second child, her new husband has maintained perfect silence.
While some are wondering why both men have chosen to remain anonymous, another group of fans believe the dead should be allowed to rest in peace.
