The ongoing construction of Ogun Standard roads across the State remains one of the major catalysts for the socio-economic development being experienced under the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led Administration in the State.
The State House of Assembly’s Committee on Works and Infrastructure led by Hon. Olayiwola Ojodu said this in continuation of the Committee’s assessment visit to the road construction sites to Ogun West and Ogun East Senatorial Districts of the State where it inspected Imeko/Afon- Ilara-Ijoun -Eggua -Oja Odan-Ilase road in Yewa axis and Ilishan -Ago-Iwoye and Ijebu Ode roads in Ogun East.
Ojodu, who expressed satisfaction at the pace of construction works, explained that the present administration prioritized the provision of good road to attract more local and foreign investors to the State with a view to opening up business and industrial landscape of the State, thereby making it the investors’ destination of choice in the nation.
Ojodu in company of other Committee members including Honourables Julianah Akintayo, Akanbi Bankole, Victor Fasanya and Adeyemi Harrison, assured that all ongoing projects would be completed by the present administration, while charging contractors handling the projects to ensure strict compliance to all safety measures to avert construction hazards.
The lawmakers in their separate submissions tasked the contractors handling all projects across the State to speed up the pace of construction in line with the respective project delivery dates to meet up with the yearnings of the citizenry.
Responding, the Project Manager handling Ilara-Ijoun -Eegua -Oja Odan-Ilase road, Mr. Martin Whyte, explained that the road which cut across Yewa South, Imeko-Afon, Yewa North and Ado Odo /Ota Local Government Areas would be completed within the next one year.
His counterpart handling the 7.6km Imowo/ Ejirin /Oluwalogbon road linking Benin Express way junction in Ijebu-Ode, Mr. Paddy Oneill stated that 5.2 Km of the road had been completed; while the Imowo portion would be delivered by the end of August.
Also, the Erigba, Ona and Omi Bridges along the 25km Ilishan- Ago- Iwoye road as well as the Ijebu Igbo Flyover would all be completed by the end of July.
