The July 12 Supreme Court ruling declaring Senator Ahmed Makarfi as the authentic Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party has been described as a victory for democracy and a proof of hope in Nigeria’s Judicial System.
The Deputy Secretary of the PDP in the United States of America, Mr. Olufemi Babawande stated this in a Press Statement issued to congratulate the authentic chairman and all loyal members of the PDP, charging them to see the judgement as a lifeline that must be used to turn the fortunes of the party around.
He advised that the PDP must now conduct its affairs in a renewed way and fashion capable of providing Nigerians with the desired opposition needed to help improve and advance the Nation’s Democracy as well as alleviate the sufferings of the people.
Babawande encouraged Senator Makarfi to work on mechanisms that would bring back together all the party stakeholders in order to sustain its internal democracy and forestall its shortcomings of the past.
Associating with his root in Ogun State, the Deputy Scribe who congratulated the State PDP under the leadership of Alhaji Sikirulai Ogundele and its numerous members on the outcome of the court ruling enjoined the political party to consolidate on the gains by evolving a party of inclusiveness that would bring together a solid team of stakeholders like the former PDP Governor of the State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel popularly called OGD.
He said “OGD is a great leader whose wealth of experience would be much more needed to steer the ship of the party away from troubled waters to safety and progress for all and sundry.
Babawande also acknowledged the numerous support and efforts of a member of the House of Representatives, Otunba Oladipupo Adebutu whom he described as a credible personality that could save the state from the hands of an inconsistent, wasteful and failing governance of the APC.
He commended the State chairman, Alh. Sikirulai Ogundele for his perseverance and tenacity while the imbroglio lasted, urging other members to sheath their swords by forgiving disobedient but repented members and welcome them back into the PDP.
Babawande also assured of the support of the PDP in the United States of America towards creating an enabling and thriving Nation where the people are proud of being Nigerians.
