The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has enjoined traditional rulers in Yoruba land to continue to live in unity and also work together in peace, love and harmony for the progress of the land and the people of the region.
The revered monarch gave the admonition in his palace recently during the unveiling of ‘Isedowo’, an empowerment campaign being packaged by Goldberg, (a brand from Nigerian Breweries Plc) for the emancipation of young Yoruba artisans.
Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi pointed out that Yoruba land remains the most peaceful region in Nigeria, emphasizing that it is the only region in the entire country that has never witness any religion related crisis among her people despite the fact that the region is blessed with different types of religions.
The first class monarch established that the Yoruba race is one of the largest ethnic groups in the world consisting of about 500 million people spreading across the entire continent. Oba Ogunwusi added that Yoruba is the only surviving race in the 400 years of Trans Atlantic slave trade across the entire continent.
According to him “Yoruba is that only race that her culture is still being upheld, her tradition is still being upheld, if you go to Brazil, we have close to 100 million Yorubas, the same for the entire Caribbean Island, all the way to Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago, the entire sixteen Western countries, Central Africa, North Africa, Sudan and everywhere in the world, we have concentration of Yorubas.”
Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi further urged the monarchs in the seven Yoruba speaking states in the country to always remember that they were crowned by God in order to guide, direct and lead the people in their respective domains on the right path.
He urged them to challenge corporate organizations in their respective domains to assist the government on the issue of youth unemployment because youths of today are leaders of tomorrow, therefore, they must be supported them – both morally and financially.
“We must lessen the work of the government by helping the youth to be empowered on their various vocations but if we don’t make things available for them it will cause a lot of trouble and problem for the society,” Oba Ogunwusi concluded.
