He submitted that as a young and talented boxer who has inspired Nigerian Youths and Africans with his achievement since turning professional after the London 2012 Olympic Games, he is a good ambassador.

Joshua who met the Federal Government Delegation after earning his 20th professional victory with a 10th round win against Carlos Takam who was a bronze medalist in Abuja at the All African games in 2003 said he is grateful to the Federal Government of Nigeria for their support and solidarity.

With the Nigerian flag hoisted alongside the british flag in the ring before the fight, Solomon Dalung says “his emergence as Heavyweight Champion is a morale booster not only to Nigerian Youths but also our National image. We must collectively pull our resources together to reposition Nigeria; this is only achievable with Nationalism and patriotism.”

Joshua whose Father hails from Shagamu in Ogun state suffered a broken nose in the second round of the bout but went on to win the fight in the 10th round with the referee stopping the fight.
