The Federal Road Safety Commission has commended the Ekiti State House of Assembly for passing laws that have impacted positively on the lives of the citizenry.
The Zonal Commanding Officer in charge of Kwara, Kogi and Ekiti states, Dr Nwaka gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the management of the Ekiti State House of Assembly in Ado Ekiti recently.
Dr Nwaka praised the Assembly for passing the State Traffic Management Law, noting that the law had impacted on traffic control and management in Ekiti State.
The Zonal Commander, who was accompanied to the Assembly complex by
the Ekiti State Sector Commander, Mr Ismail A. Kugu, described the visit as a purpose-driven.
He also praised the state governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, for his administration’s drive towards achieving an overall development of Ekiti State.
The FRSC officials noted that the network of roads in Ekiti was now better than what it used to be.
They called for synergy between the state government and the Commission towards reducing accidents on Ekiti roads.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Pastor) Kola Oluwawole, charged the commission to step up their sensitization programmme on proper usage of roads and penalties that awaited offenders.
Pastor Oluwawole disclosed that the need to ensure sanity on Ekiti roads necessitated the passage of the traffic management law and charged the FRSC officers to always discharge their duties without fear or favour.
He promised the support of the Assembly to the success of road safety activities in Ekiti state.
Other members of the Assembly present at the courtesy visit included the Deputy speaker, Rt. Hon Olusegun Adewumi; Leader of Business, Hon Akinyele Olatunji;Â Deputy Whip, Hon Akinleye Ekundayo; and Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon Jeje Samuel.
