Members of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State on Monday stormed major streets of Ibadan, the capital of the state to celebrate the confirmation of the candidature of their party’s gubernatorial candidate, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin.
Lanlehin had over the weekend traveled to Abuja to finalize the details concerning his candidature; thus officially becoming the party’s flag bearer for the 2019 gubernatorial election in the state.
Lanlehin, in his address, appreciated all the party leaders, including Senator Rashidi Ladoja, Chief Michael Koleosho, Dr Busari Adebisi and Chief Olayiwola Olakojo, describing them as trustworthy leaders that should be emulated in the political circuit. He also appreciated the party’s executive and all the members of his political party for their support throughout the primary elections that produced him and other candidates of the party. He promised not to let them down and pleaded with them to all work together as one big family in order for them to come out victorious in next year’s general election.
Senator Lanlehin linked his victory to their support that cannot in anyway be under estimated. He thereafter pleaded with them to work together as that is the only way to secure the victory and “wrest power from the All Progressive Congress’ anti-masses system of government”.
He maintained that it is time for the people of Oyo State to stand on their feet and oust the ruling party (APC) as they have failed the citizens of the state.
Said Lanlehin “Their government doesn’t care about the wellbeing of the masses instead they are still adding to the problems of our people and now our people are ready to vote them out”.
Lanlehin appealed to all ADC members to continue to orientate the people that ADC is the only party that can deliver the good people of Oyo State from the hardship being caused by the ruling APC.
Speaking on behalf of the other candidates of the ADC, Senator Monsurat Sumonu who is the candidate for Oyo Central Senatorial District thanked all the members of the party for their steadfastness and endless support, maintaining that their support is the major source of inspiration for her and other members of the National Assembly in the state. Senator Sunmonu pleaded for the maximum support of all the party members to ensure the party’s victory come 2019 general election while she also promised to facilitate more dividends of democracy.
The state chairman of the party, Alhaji Hammed Ayinla appreciated all the chieftains and members of the party for their support towards the development of ADC in the state, maintaining that “ADC has come to stay and by the grace of God, the party’s gubernatorial candidate Senator Olufemi Lanlehin shall come out victorious and become the governor of Oyo State come 2019”.
