The Chief Executive Officer of Eternal Beats Band and a juju music maestro, Evangelist Taiwo Omotunde has been elected as the new governor of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Oyo State chapter to succeed Alhaji Tajudeen Abiodun (Taju System) during the associations election held recently at the Cultural center, Ibadan.

Evangelist Omotunde polled 116 votes to defeat his opponent, Pastor Remi Aderoju who polled 58 votes. Evangelist Omotunde came from the Juju music sector while Pastor Aderoju is the president of Christian Musicians Association of Nigeria (CMAN) a breakaway faction of the Gospel Musicians Association of Nigeria (GOMAN).

The election was shifted from Thursday, October 18.2018 to Tuesday, 27, November 2018, after  an alleged move by the former chairman to impose Pastor Aderoju on the association in the state.

Shortly before the election, both contestants had sworn that the result of the election would be taken in good faith which prompted Pastor Aderoju to congratulate Evangelist Omotunde immediately after the election.

It would be recalled that PMParrot had reported that the election was shifted as a result of non registration of members from Oyo state with the National headquarters of the association.

While speaking to journalists after the election, Evangelist Omotunde pledged his commitment to increase membership of the association while also promising to put the pacesetter state chapter of PMAN on world record through the creation of a website that will showcase all musicians in the state and to work with appropriate government agencies to move the association forward.

He also promised to unite all arms of the association by setting up a re-conciliatory committee while also stating that meetings of the association will be taken round the state for members to have a sense of belonging.

Also speaking with reporters at the well attended election, leading fuji music act, Alhaji (Dr) Rasheed Ayinde Merenge condemned the previous administration of PMAN in the state saying that the long reign of the past leaders had robbed members of the association of so many good things and that the election  signaled a new beginning for musicians in the state.

He debunked the rumour that fuji music players were not prominent in the association and that the new leadership is expected to bring musicians in the state together while pledging to support the new leadership of Taiwo Omotunde.
