National Security: APGA’s Presidential Candidate Reveals Plans

The All Progressives Grand Alliance Presidential Candidate, Dr. John Gbor has said that he will set up National Security Guard (NSG) to be trained and deployed for internal security operations to tackle terrorism, insurgency and hostage taking.

He added that attack on fellow Nigerians and kidnapping by any individuals will be considered as acts of terrorism and will be treated as such.

In a press statement signed by Mike Angel, Director of Strategic Communication to Gen John Gbor and Jerry Chukwueke Presidential Campaign Organisation, APGA and made available to newsmen in Ibadan.

 Gbor made this assertion while addressing members of Gbor Support Group (GSG) during a solidarity visit to him at the Gbor Campaign Organisation Office, Garki II, Abuja.

He condemned the manner in which terrorism is being handled by the APC-led regime adding that security is a matter of life and death and it should be properly taken care of by all of us. It should not be politicised at all.

The Presidential candidate commended the Nigerian Army on their efforts in tackling the bloody activism of Boko Haram and offered prayers for the souls of departed Nigerian soldiers who took part in World War II, Civil War, Peace keeping operations to rest in the bosom of the Lord on the occasion of the 2019 Army Remembrance Day.

“We need to change our strategy to be able to meet up with the demands of asymmetrical warfare in a digital democracy. There is need to ensure that there is no discrepancy between the policy makers and intelligence gatherers and consumers. Critical intelligence sharing is necessary.

 “As presently structured, it will be difficult to root out terrorism in Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari because he is not in touch with the strategic method of fighting online and offline terrorism. Our counter-terrorism strategy must be reviewed completely and redesigned to restore confidence in our security system.”

The mission of NSG is to deal with all facets of terrorism in Nigeria. As a specialized force, it will be trained to conduct counter-terrorist task including: counter-hijacking tasks on land, sea, and air,” he declared.

He said further: “The NSG as a Nigerian Special Forces unit under the ministry of Internal Affairs will be for combating terrorist activities with a view to protect states against internal disturbances.  This will provide a kind of omnipresent omnipotent security for all and No one and no place left behind, he said.

Gbor, however, promised to issue life insurance policy to members of security personnel and their families if he get to office as Nigeria’s President.

“Families of military officers, men and women who pay the supreme sacrifice on active service will automatically become the responsibility of Government under Gbor government if voted to power on February 16th 2019,” he explained.
