Beyond 2019 Polls: What Next For Nigerians?

President Muhammadu Buhari...
President Muhammadu Buhari...

The 2019 general elections have come and gone with all the attendant sad occurrences ranging from ballot snatching to vote buying and selling. Pockets of violence and killings were also recorded.

Without saying it too loudly, the most coveted post of all available electoral positions went to President Muhammadu Buhari who succeeded in his bid to rule Nigeria for a second term using the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Of course, his major opponent and candidate of the Peoples Demcratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has since dusted his documents and headed for the post election petitions’ tribunal.

Nigerians on the other hand have since, also, been aspiring with sincere hope of being well treated by those who found themselves in positions of authority.

Education, health care delivery, provision of infrastructures are important aspects of Nigerians’ lives that need to be visited and revisited.

The most desired is security. In the northern part of the country, elements from the Boko Haram group and others are still on rampage. In the eastern part, armed robbery, kidnappings and other vices are still reigning supreme. As for the South West, kidnappers are also beginning to make brisk businesses especially between Ondo and Ekiti States.

All Nigerians want is to see the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari make serious but spirited moves to reduce the prevalence of these problems.

Governments at both the state and local levels equally must key into the same mode. Nigerians want good governance, they want to be able to boast anywhere proudly that Nigeria is their country. It is time to put behind the memories of the 2019 elections and face reality. Nigeria has all it takes to be great. It is time for its leaders to deliver.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
