In furtherance of its strong commitment to security of lives and property, the Oyo State Security Trust Fund, (OYSSTF) on Tuesday handed over 10 new patrol vans to the state’s Joint Security Task Force.

The patrol vans, bulletproof jackets and some fire fighting kits were handed over to the appropriate agencies by Chief Bayo Adelabu, the OYSSTF Chairman at the OYSSTF office in Ibadan.

The patrol vans and bulletproof jackets were received by Brig. Gen. Oluyinka Soyele, the Commander, Operation Burst, the state’s joint security outfit.

The fire fighting kits which included helmets, boots and hose, were also received by Mr Moshood Adewuyi, Director of Fire Services in the state.

Adelabu said that the brand new patrol vans were purchased as part of efforts to further strengthen the security network in the state and to aid fast response to crime.

He said that the Abiola Ajimobi-led administration had shown much commitment to security of lives and property, stressing that such was evident in the peaceful atmosphere witnessed in the last eight years.

“The primary responsibility of any government is to protect the lives of its citizenry and their property. Without these, there can’t be any meaningful development.

“If there is anything the Ajimobi administration is recognized for, it is security of lives and property. This administration has performed better than any government in the state on security,” he said.

Adelabu implored the incoming administration to sustain and surpass the present administration’s achievement on security

He, however, urged the agencies to ensure maintenance of the patrol vans and usage for purposes for which they were purchased.

Mr Segun Abolarinwa, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, said that the patrol vans were equipped with modern communication gadgets to ensure quick response to crime.

“Security is a continuum. The Ajimobi-led administration has ensured adequate security of lives and property in the last eight years.

“This administration is winding up and we must ensure that we are not handing over a bad security situation to the incoming administration,” he said.

The event was attended by Mr Femi Oyedipe, OYSSTF’s Executive Secretary, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, Ekerin-Olubadan  of Ibadanland and Mr Femi Odumabo among others.
