Prince Diran Odeyemi, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government to include Oyo state in its measures towards preventing spread of CoronaVirus.
Prince Odeyemi in a statement he signed declared that with the present situation in Oyo state, particularly with Governor Seyi Makinde testing positive to CoronaVirus, it was glaring that the time is now to include Oyo state in the Federal government’s arrangement.
The PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary pointed out that the proximity of Ogun state to Lagos as reason for its inclusion in the Federal government arrangement is also applicable to Oyo state considering its closeness to Lagos as well as influx of people from Lagos to Oyo state on nearly hourly basis.
Prince Odeyemi stressed that the Federal government should not wait until the situation in Oyo state gets out of hand before its inclusion in the preventive measure arrangements of the Federal Government.
“It is now time for President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government to include Oyo state in its emergency measures at curtailing and containing spread of CoronaVirus . The fact that Governor Seyi Makinde has tested positive for CoronaVirus is clear and enough signal that the virus will soon spread and the right thing to do is to be included in the Federal government emergency measures”.
“Oyo state, like Ogun state share nearly everything with Lagos, hundreds of people are working in and across Lagos state but resides in Ibadan with majority of them shuttling between Ibadan and Lagos on daily basis. With all these, Federal government needs not to waste time in including Oyo state too”.
