Former Nigeria’s Super Eagles goalkeeper, Ike Shorunmu has emotionally spoken of his late boss Stephen Keshi, describing him as a real man and true ‘Big Boss’ who genuinely loved home-based players.
Keshi, who passed away on June 7, 2016, after suffering a heart attack at age 54, had lost his wife Kate to cancer six month earlier.
Shorunmu who worked with the former Hawks of Togo gaffer said Keshi remains the only National team handler who loved and gave the most opportunities to Nigerian players in the local league.
“His legacies are there, no one has matched what he did since he left.
“You can testify to this when Keshi was with the National team, our league here was interesting because all of the players will want to play very well to be invited to the national team.
“It is sad that since he left, no one has done so much with our home-based players,” Shorunmu said.
