Golf can mean many things to many people, it can be a regular challenge, a weekly wind down or simply a great way to spend an afternoon – for Hon. Folasade Ajala, it can become something more of a way of life.

The Lady Captain of Tiger Golf Club, Ibadan in her own terms described golf as ‘a game of life’, saying “I can say here categorically that as far as I am concerned, golf comes after God. What I derived in golf in terms of health, social experience and even business networking cannot be quantified”.

She joined the golfing family from Ogbomoso Golf Club and started playing golf in 2011 with off handicap 36 but with commitment and constant playing, she dropped the handicap from 36 to 16 with a lot laurels.

Ajala who was formerly a Lady Captain of Ogbomoso Golf Club that she described as her home club explained that a round of golf game will showcase your character in real life on the course to your playing mates and that is why golf is called a game of life.

She claimed her quest for improvement and more experience in golf was what prompted her to join Tiger Golf Club (TGC) and The Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) respectively.

“Being a Lady Captain in Tiger Golf Club was through the yearning of some members that needed my wealth of experience for the growth of the ladies section through a competitive election”, she added.

Ajala continued “To the glory of God, some of my promises during campaign with the support of other ladies in the section and our sponsors with God’s help are coming into actualization. Example is our regular Friday kitty that is now more stable.

“I promised to build a lady captain’s office, and with the cooperation of my Captain and the executive, the office has been completed and commissioned to the glory of God by the General Officer Commanding 2 Army Division, Major General Anthony Omozoje”.

“We thank God for his mercy and protection over us. The lockdown really affected the game because at the heat of the pandemic, many people stayed off the course which was necessary, though, it affected the election of the executives and also the economic conditions of the club, but thank God with all the preventive measures, activities have resumed fully to TGC”, said Sade Ajala who is presently a board member of Oyo’s State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
