Taiwo Awoniyi scored his fifth Bundesliga goal of the season for Union Berlin in their 2-0 win away at Werder Bremen at the Wohninvest Weserstadion.
The game was Awoniyi’s 12th of the season.
The Nigerian who was making his ninth start in the Bundesliga scored in the 29th minute of the encounter – his third in his last three games.
Sheraldo Becker had shot Union Berlin into the lead after 12 minutes.
Awoniyi is now the second highest scoring African in the Bundesliga after Stuttgart’s Congolese striker Silas Wamangituka who has scored seven goals in 12 starts and the 14th top scorer in the German topflight division.
