Dr Akintunde Ayeni, the Founder of Yemkem International has called on Nigerians to embraced the use of Herbal Medicines for their own good and benefit.
Ayeni who spoke with PMParrot at the Palace of the Ooni of Ile Ife recently made the submission.
Ayeni, while speaking about his firm’s products, urged everyone to cultivate the habit of using herbal medicine, saying it is the best. He also urged Nigerians to patronize local contents adding that it is a way of promoting culture which would also in turn bring development.
He said “we have gone beyond making noise, which we used to make some years ago. You know basically, Yemkem International is known for people coming to the office to buy our drugs and do consultations on their health issues and this and that. We have grown beyond that. The firm is now purely into production of herbal products in which we now have a separate body that deals with the marketing and distributions of Yemkem products”.
Speaking further, he said: “When you talk about traditional medicine in Nigeria, Yemkem International is number one. That is why we are called the Pathfinder. And we have made so much noise, is it advertisement on the radio, or on the television, left and right? We really made our mileage”.
Continuing, he added “as a business man, when you get to a certain stage in life, you proceed ahead, and today, I want to categorically say that we have the biggest herbal factory in Nigeria. So, what we actually do more these days, is that we specialize in the production of products which we now give to the marketing firm that distributes and markets them for us. That is why we no longer actually make so much noise like before again.
“Let’s say like 20 years ago, Yemkem International had over 50 branches nationwide including Maiduguri but now, at least, our branches are no longer even up to ten, it’s about eight or nine branches now. So, we have reduced the number of our branches so what we are focused on now is the production of our products where some people who buy our products and exports them to all other Countries of the world and sell them in places like UK, America and Canada to those who needs them”.
