We Trained Over 10,000 Primary School Teachers In Less Than Three Years – Ekiti Government

Dr Kayode Fayemi’s Government in Ekiti State has trained over 10,000 teachers under various training programmes approved by UBEC within the two and half years of the present administration.

The Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Femi Akinwumi made this known at Ikogosi Ekiti while declaring open a 5-day training for Quality Assurance Officers of primary schools.

Prof. Akinwumi said that the focus is to ensure efficient and effective teaching in the State, adding that the Quality Assurance training would also assist school head-teachers to achieve effective evaluation.

He highlighted some other achievements of government within the last two and a half years to include renovation of dilapidated school buildings, construction of 4 model colleges and provisions of boreholes.

Akinwumi also noted that prompt payment of counterpart funds by the Fayemi led administration led to the release of UBEC intervention fund to Ekiti State and provided the wherewithal for SUBEB to execute the various projects in public schools.

The Executive Secretary, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Hamid Bobboyi who spoke through the Director South West (UBEC), Dr. Bola Oyedokun stated that the training would improve the capacity of Quality Assurance Officers at the SUBEB and LGEA for efficient and effective evaluation of schools in order to enhance learning outcomes.

According to him, the training programme would also help to improve the standard of basic education and ensure the attainment of minimum standards capable of producing model.
