It is no longer news that Local Government Chairmen in Oyo State under the auspices of ALGON on Sunday staged the eighth day fidau for late Olubadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji who died on January 2, 2022.
On Sunday, Ibadan literally stood still, as dignitaries trooped in in their numbers to honour the late Olubadan of Ibadanland at the ancient Mapo Hall in Ibadan, the capital city of the state.
The 11 local government chairmen in Ibadan had decided to take it upon themselves to see that the late monarch gets a befitting final burial.
According to our source, the Ibadan local government chairmen aside monetary contribution have since the demise of the Olubadan Of Ibadan kept late nights in consistent preparations towards a final farewell bid to their king.
Speaking with newsmen at the eighth day Fidua prayer in respect to the late monarch, organized by the eleven local government chairmen in Ibadan and council of chiefs, Hon. Sanda Sikiru, the chairman Egbeda local government and the oyo State ALGON chairman said “we have lost a father, an enigma and if it was possible to buy death we would have done that to keep the late Olubadan with us, but it’s the will of God and all that’s expected from us being baba’s children is to give him a befitting last respect in which you can all see for yourself”.
Also speaking was the chairman Ibadan north local government and also the public relations officer for Oyo ALGON, Hon. Yusuff Sahib Oladayo (Agba Egbe), he appreciated the state’s governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his immense contributions since the demise of the monarch and also emphasized on the selfless contributions from his colleagues the chairmen of the eleven-local governments in Ibadan, who had also taken upon themselves to see that the late respected monarch is given befitting burial.

Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the commissioner for local government and Chieftaincy affairs, Chief Bayo Lawal who represented the governor of Oyo state, Sen. Others present included, APC Chieftain, Mogaji Olasunkanmi Tegbe, Chief Mrs Mutiat Ladoja, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, the Aare Muslumi of Yoruba, Alhaji Dawud Akinola, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, Special Adviser to the governor on Security and all the 11 Local chairmen in Ibadan.
