Ekiti 2022: How Fayose’s Anointed Candidate, Kolawole Emerged As PDP’s Flagbearer

Bisi Kolawole, the former Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has emerged as the party’s candidate for the June 18 gubernatorial election in the state.

Kolawole, a former Commissioner for Environment who hails from Efon-Ekiti, in the Central Senatorial District scored 671 votes to defeat the former governor of the state, Segun Oni who scored 330 votes.

Other contestants were former deputy governor, Prof Kolapo Olusola-Eleka who scored 93 votes ; Kayode Adaramodu,10 votes ; Lateef Ajijola, 1 vote ; Biodun Olujimi who had earlier pulled out got 2 votes ; Wale Aribisala, 56 votes ; and Deji Ogunsakin, 6 votes.

Speaking, the Chairman of the Ekiti PDP primary election, Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State stated that the election was transparent and devoid of any manipulation while urging the winner to be magnanimous in victory.
